SEPTEMBER 18, 2017 -- YEAR ONE WEEK ONE

Sup dudes.

This week was pretty awesome. I think this next coming week is my last one here in Atalaya.

We received a reference from the Stake Mission Leader yesterday. We went, and the lady said that three weeks ago (when we invited him to kneel and pray to know which of his friends to invite) she felt something that told her to go to church. She went to one, but hadn't went the other week, or the day we visited. We had a great first visit, and we asked the wife of the family to say a pray. She cried during it and asked for the Lord to guide her to the truth. I know she found it.

Another family. We showed up with Familia Camacho and we went to visit their friends in Nuevo Horizonte. The father wasn't home, but we visited anyway. We found a daughter, and the son in law. We did a lesson, and the same thing. The daughter at the end was crying, and said she wanted to know the truth. She said the prayer and cried through it all asking for the same guidance from the Lord. Really great experiences.

This week, I testify of a new beginning. I have one year now to get done, and I am feeling motivated!

I don't have all the time in the world like before, and so I'm feeling like I need to step it up and make the most of this year.

I am very pleased to have all of the opportunities that I have had to serve the Lord, and I know he calls worthy men on the earth today to direct his work.

Year 1: Jacob 1:19, Moroni 9:6

This last year, as I reflect on all of the experiences I've had, and all of the people that I've met. I think on how blessed I've been by the Lord. There is revelation today on the face of the earth. I know that I was called of God to serve in Colombia. This place has been so extraordinary for me. I love my Heavenly Father. I am grateful for my family. And I am repenting every day of what I didn't do, or what I did poorly while I was still home.

With one year under my belt, I have truly not even began to understand the masters teaching, of service. Matthew 20:25-28

25 Entonces Jesús, llamándolosdijo: Sabéis que los gobernantes de los gentiles se enseñorean sobre ellos, los que sograndes ejercen sobre ellos potestad.
26 Mas entre vosotros no será así, sino que el que quiera hacerse grande entre vosotros será vuestro servidor;
27 el que quiera ser el primero entre vosotros será vuestrsiervo,
28 así como el Hijo del Hombre no vino para ser servido, sinpara servir para dar su vida en rescate por muchos.
In Spanish there is a phrase ¨El que no sirve, no sirve¨. It means- He who doesn't serve, doesn't work, (thinking of a broken tool that doesn't work for what it was made for). I know that's true. The Lord has a great work waiting for everybody, and I know that that great work is here in the mission field! I still have yet to begin my true discipleship of Jesus Christ. When we think we have hit that point, we should think that it is truly just beginning. As I started my mission, I thought about competition, being better than everybody else. What I've learned in the mission is all the opposite. It is a gentle response, being humble, Matthew 5:39.

It is this selfless service. I can't wait to get to that point. And I pray for all of you to learn these truths. I miss you all. I won't say a lot because I feel like I'm at home down here in Colombia, but I miss you.

Thanks for all the memories we've had, and know that I try to apply them to my time here, to bless the lives of all those people around me. Especially my father and my mother. They are some of the most devote followers of Christ I have had the pleasure to meet.

If I could write a book of scripture, it would probably have the first verse something about the same as Nephi, when he wrote 1st Nephi 1:1.

I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days.

ONE Year down, ONE more to go. I expect you all to start writing me. Seriously!
